Shanhailou (Tuanjiehu) Clubhouse is located within a courtyard in the eastern gate of Tuanjiehu Park, Chaoyang District, Beijing. Covering an area of more than 1,000 m2, it was transformed from an office area into a high-end clubhouse for senior officials and VIPs by Beijing Fortune United Group Co.,Ltd.
The project was expanded from the old courtyard of 600m2 into an area of over 1000m2, which consists of six high-end wing rooms featuring different themes such as rocks, literati, cigar, red wine and dignity.
How to integrate the modern functions of a high-end clubhouse into the ancient buildings in traditional form? And how to combine both the Chinese and western elements with an elegant manner? We have been thinking about these problems throughout the project. When we began to undertake the project, the main structure of the ancient Chinese building had been damaged, although its complex architectural decoration still remained. Then, we created indoor decoration with Baroque elements to seamlessly combine the two different things and demonstrate the architectural aestheticism during the golden ages of ancient China and western world.
