It represents a ‘low-key luxury’ as it is a perfect combination of tranquility and dignity, ease and elegance.
A building designed by a well-known architect can speak for itself. The top priority of indoor design is to discover, re-discover and maximize the architectural strength to make visitors and residents truly experience it, while minimizing and even removing its own drawbacks.
The Chinese characteristics of architecture is reflected not only in the exterior appearance of buildings, but in the symmetric pattern and progressive spatial sequence in the interior layout. The simple wall interface, combined with Rosewood skirt line, reminds us of the simple decoration of traditional houses. Moreover, the wallpaper with rich texture makes the building look modern and trendy, displaying a sense of safety which resembles the strong mansion with imposing dwellings and spacious courtyards. The traditional wooden gratings are transformed into modern forms and run throughout the whole buildings, casting away the original windowing as one pleases. The changing colors of polished slates covered on the ground well demonstrate the Chinese elements that can be second to none in the architectural design.
The fashion sense of the house is also made possible by furnishings, such as stainless steel, old-fashioned armchair, dining table made with rosewood, simple and leather bed, tea/coffee table with unique shape, and crystal chandeliers wrapped by silk.
Showing respect to tradition should not be to “believe in and love the ancient things, only expounding the theories summed up by our predecessors but not making any creation”. Rather, the main purpose for a big house’s interior design is to render the Chinese elements skillfully with pure spatial expressions.
